SURGERY (soft tissue, orthopedic, spay/neuter)

Pre-surgical blood work

It is strongly recommended for blood work, prior to surgery, especially for our pets 5 years of age and older. This enables us to know the status of our patient before surgery so appropriate measures can be taken to access the patient during surgery or surgery maybe postponed until the patient is ready for surgery.

Anesthesia

Gas anesthesia with isoflurane gas is used for most of our procedures. This is one of the safest inhalant available. The patient is monitored with equipment which can measure breathing rate, heart rate, oxygen level, ECG, and blood pressure. This allows us to recognize potential problems so we may act quickly to provide the appropriate care.

Pain Management

Controlling pain in our patients is very important to us at Critter Care. We provide post-surgical pain treatment and if needed, send home pain medication for our patients. There is no excuse for animals to have unnecessary pain and we do our best to provide appropriate medication and care to make our patients comfortable.

Spay and Neuter

There are so many unwanted stray animals resulting in euthanasia of many of these animals. Spaying and neutering makes your pet a better family member. Spaying of females will stop unwanted litters, stop the mess with heat cycles, prevent uterine infections, decrease aggression; stop the attraction of male dogs, and lessens the desire to roaming. Females spayed earlier in life are healthier later in life. Neutering males helps decrease territorial aggression and urine marking and the males have less desire to roam from home. Please don’t litter, spay or neuter that critter.

C-section

If your pregnant pet experiences a difficult delivery and requires surgery, we can provide this service for the health of the mother and babies.

Orthopedic Surgery

Dr. Lindley can provide both internal and external repair of fractures. Ligament repair of the knee joint and other orthopedic surgeries are performed utilizing modern equipment and skills.

Foreign Body Removal and Exploratory

Cats and dogs will swallow objects which may become lodge in their digestive tracks. Some of these objects include balls, string, pantyhose, sticks, pecans, and other items. These objects must be removed surgically if lodged and require exploratory surgery with removal from the digestive track. Urinary calculi (stones) may become lodged and cause urinary blockage which requires emergency surgery for removal.

Tumor Removal

All lumps and bumps need to be evaluated for surgical removal. Removing these tumors while they are small causes less trauma then when large and complete removal of tumors at an early stage can prevent the spread of cancer.

Testimonial

The people that work at Critter Care really are committed to providing the best care possible to the critters brought to them. It starts at the front desk with well trained, friendly staff and carries forward into the exam rooms. Dr Lindley is so good with the animals and so are all her staff members. I know if my Sadie could enunciate her feelings, she would say "2 thumbs up "!! As it is, her wagging tail and grinning mouth say she is well cared for there. The groomer on staff, Jenn, is fabulous!! Bring your animals in, because Critter Care is a very good clinic and boarding facility.
